ASAP publication method
UK prices only. Exact products first.
ASAP publishes qualifying UK product identities first, then adds UK ecommerce offers when they are available. Non-UK records do not qualify for public shopping results.
What an exact product match means
ASAP uses a checksum-valid GTIN, EAN or UPC to identify the sellable product record. We do not treat a similar name, brand, variant, refill, capacity or pack size as an exact match. If a source does not provide a valid identifier, the record cannot support a public price comparison.
What is shown with a record
Where an official register requires it, the record page keeps the relevant attribution, licence information and latest update visible. These details explain the evidence behind the record; they do not independently prove a retailer’s current price, stock or delivery terms.
Prices are optional; UK evidence is not
A record may be useful before a current price is available. A valid GTIN can support exact identity, and a UK retailer-supplied brand and model can support a clearly labelled single-source catalogue record. Only a valid GTIN can join prices across different retailers. A record without a qualifying offer is never presented as a price comparison.
The public offer gate
A price can be displayed only when it is attached to the same valid GTIN, has a secure UK destination, has a positive GBP price and carries an observation time inside its freshness window. Future-dated rows are rejected, and every displayed price is visibly dated so its age can be judged. US and non-shopping records are excluded by default.
Why a product needs two retailers
A comparison page is only worth publishing when there is something to compare. ASAP builds its comparison index from licensed UK retailer product feeds, groups every offer by checksum-valid barcode, and keeps the product only when two or more distinct UK retailers stock that exact barcode. Single-stockist items are held back rather than dressed up as a comparison.
How we treat a “was” price
A recommended retail price is a claim, not an observation. Where a claimed RRP sits far above what the market actually charges — measured as the typical price across every UK retailer holding the same barcode — ASAP says so on the product page instead of repeating the implied saving. Delivery is shown separately from the item price, and where delivery changes which retailer is genuinely cheapest, the page states that too.
Safety notices
Product pages carry official safety and recall notices matched to the exact barcode, drawn from the UK Office for Product Safety and Standards, the UK Food Standards Agency and the EU Safety Gate. A notice is evidence about the product; it is never treated as a reason to publish or withhold a price.
The current feed, licence, attribution and gated-source register is published in the feeds and rights report. Imported US-only sources and metadata-only manifests stay outside UK product decisions until an exact, rights-reviewed projection is approved.
Coverage and ranking limits
ASAP excludes USD and other non-GBP prices, US-only destinations, vehicle listings, places and generic retailer searches. It does not claim to cover every retailer, product, promotion, availability state, delivery charge or checkout total. When qualifying offers are available, the visible list is ordered by the displayed item price. Retailer terms, delivery and eligibility should be checked before purchase.
Commercial links
Some outbound links are commercial and may earn ASAP a commission. They are visibly labelled and marked for search engines. Commercial status does not determine whether a product identity is accepted or where a qualifying offer is placed in price order.
Retailer links that are not price-ranked
Some retailers are shown as a link to check rather than as a ranked price. These links appear only when there is a high-confidence exact match for the product; generic retailer searches are not presented as product evidence. Because no dated GBP price is held for them, they are not placed in the numeric price ranking.
