CATALOGUE COVERAGE
A smaller index with stronger evidence.
Two different catalogues, two different scopes
The number above (7,255) is this governed publication catalogue only. Department pages (/categories/โฆ) and comparison pages instead read from a separate, much larger comparison index: every barcode sold by two or more UK retailers, currently 1,492,649 products, of which 5,000 currently clear the comparison-quality bar engines. These are legitimately different layers โ this report is the strictest-evidence subset โ not the same count measured twice.
Coverage by department
Published-catalogue counts only. A department pageโs own count comes from the larger comparison index and will usually be higher โ see the note above.
Publication threshold
A product needs a title of at least 12 characters and either a UK catalogue record with a valid GTIN or credible brand and model, or a qualifying exact-GTIN UK offer observation. Duplicate identities are collapsed. Vehicles and explicit non-UK regulatory seeds are excluded.
Offer observations remain separate from product identity: Offer rows expire after 14 to 30 days depending on how they were observed. Only observations checked within 48 hours are described as fresh prices; older display-eligible rows stay dated and de-prioritised. An older product record can remain in the direct-visitor catalogue without showing an old price.
A brand needs at least three qualifying products. A department is indexable only when three qualifying products exist. Latest qualifying observation: 6 September 2026 at 02:36 BST.
